At first glance a club with a 52000 seat stadium, an army of fanatical supporters, international players, experienced coaching staff and a real chance of re-promotion to the Premier League looks a like a good buy for anyone.

If the current rumours are true, an astute investor could have an entire football club for the sort of money Real Madrid are considering spending on Christiano Ronaldo and a few years wages.

Okay, there's going to be a lot of players departing, but that lightens the wage bill. Some of them are still Premiership targets and could net a few million to be spent on ambitious Championship / lower league footballers.

Assuming you had £80m - £100m to spare or to invest (I expect haggling would be productive), would you want to become embroiled in the saga of St James?
