DONCASTER'S Hollyoaks fans were in heaven! Television hunks from the Channel Four teen soap turned out in force to perform for their fans in a charity football game at the Keepmoat Stadium.
A team of stars from the show took part in the game to raise more than £14,000 for Hallam FM's Cash for Kids charity at the venue.

Led by Captain Nick Pickard, who plays Tony Hutchinson, the Hollyoaks lads defeated a team of Hallam FM All Stars 3-2 to lift the inaugural Cash for Kids Cup.

A crowd of 2,500 attended the match to cheer on and watch the Hollyoaks hunks in action.

Cash for Kids charity manager Katy Winterschladen said: "We're so grateful to everyone who came or got involved in the event helping to raise so much.

"We'd really like a significant amount of the money raised from this event to go straight back into the Doncaster area to make a real difference to the neediest local children."

Some of the players were fans who had raised money to take part, and they were treated to the complete match day experience at stadium, home of Doncaster Rovers – using the official changing rooms, walking down the tunnel and playing in front of a crowd.

Duncan Rougvie, one of the Hallam FM players, said after the match: "It was such good fun, a real privilege to play against Hollyoaks in such an amazing stadium.

"I think I can speak for us all when I say we all felt totally overwhelmed and honoured! Especially when we found our how much money was raised afterwards. It was a great feeling and a totally unforgettable day."

Nico Mirallegro, who plays Newt in the soap, scooped the man of the match award and Hallam FM's Jonathan Tyrell picked up the goal of the match prize, presented to them by Katy Dent from The Crown hotel in Bawtry, which sponsored the event.

Steve Beard, who plays Archie in Hollyoaks, and has played at Old Trafford and Wembley, said: "Out of all the charity games I've played in this was definitely the nicest ground. It was a really nice crowd here too."

Players stayed to sign autographs for eager fans after the match.
Hallam FM's Cash for Kids supports sick, deprived and disabled children within South Yorkshire and North Midlands.

Every penny raised stays within the local area to help individuals, groups and other children's charities
