Former Hollyoaks actor Finn Jones is cast in HBO’s A Game of Thrones TV series, starring Sean Bean.
A FORMER Hollyoaks Later actor has landed a role in a high profile new project for American TV company HBO, the makers of The Wire and True Blood.

Finn Jones, 22, played drug dealer Jamie in Hollyoaks Later at the end of last year, before moving into the Merseyside soap in February where he was involved in the exit story of long running character Hannah Ashworth.

He has since scored jobs on Dr Who spin-off the Sarah Jane Adventures and in two episodes of The Bill.

The London-based actor has now been confirmed as playing the character of Ser Loras Tyrell in HBO’s newest venture, A Game of Thrones.

The series, to be filmed in Northern Ireland and Morocco, follows the fortunes of the noble Stark family in their struggles against the ambitious Lannisters in a blood and guts fantasy epic described as: “The Sopranos in Middle-earth”.

Sheffield actor Sean Bean heads the cast as Lord Eddard Stark and is joined by fellow brits Lena Headey, The Full Monty’s Mark Addy as King Robert, and Alfie Allen, brother of popstar Lily Allen.

Finn’s character, a ‘perfect knight’ who has a dangerous secret, is only in two episodes of the first series but will grow into a larger role if the series, based on the best-selling novels by American author George RR Martin, is successful.

Finn Jones confirmed the casting news on his Twitter page, saying: “OK. Guess I can make it official. I will indeed be playing The Knight of Flowers, Ser Loras Tyrell, in HBO’s Game of Thrones.

“I'm a huge fan of the books. It's such a privilege to be able to bring one of GRRM’s characters to life, especially The Knight of Flowers. Bring it on!”
