I thought the new format (that is, of the last couple of years) has given us a better set of winning songs but it hasn't done Ireland much good: their entry, a rock-pop number in the Avril format, was not one of the lucky ones.

This seemed a bit odd to me as it wasn't that bad and there were certainly less impressive songs progressing.
