Manchester City reportedly have a back-up plan if their audacious bid to buy Chelsea captain John Terry fails, in the shape of Porto defender Bruno Alves.

The Daily Star reports that Mark Hughes’ men will turn their attentions to the Portuguese international if Terry opts to stay at Stamford Bridge.

The British tabloid claims that the Citizens are willing to pay £20 million for the 27-year-old who is attracting interest from around the continent.

Indeed City look to have a battle on their hands if they wish to secure the Porto defender who is also reportedly interesting the likes of Real Madrid, Barcelona and Chelsea.
