Tina Miles talks to Hollyoaks actress Kelly-Marie Stewart about being a disabled mum

WHEN Hollyoaks actress Kelly-Marie Stewart found out she was pregnant she was over the moon. But it wasn’t long before the reality of being in a wheelchair and having to care for a child set in.

“One of the hardest things was shopping for a pram,” says Kelly-Marie. “I’d been looking forward to picking out a pram, but when I got to the shop it was full of mums pushing prams and it hit me that was something I was never going to be able to do.

“That was the first time I actually cried.”

The actress, who played Hayley Ramsey in the Liverpool-made soap for three years, lost the use of her legs when she was 21.
