Hollyoaks star Charlie Clapham has revealed his shock when he was approached by a scary-looking man in a nightclub toilet - who turned out to be a Hollyoaks fan.
The actor joined the E4 soap this year as Jack-the-lad Freddie Roscoe, and has been pleasantly surprised by fans' reactions.
Charlie revealed: "I was expecting to get a bit of stick. I'm quite a lairy character, but everyone's been so nice. Even really big fellas who probably take steroids!
"I'll be stood at the urinal in the club where I'm from in Leicester and someone will go 'Oi it's you innit?' and I'll look round and go oh no! And then it turns out to be the longest pee you've ever taken in your life, and then they'll walk over, and they'll go 'You play Freddie in Hollyoaks don't you... I just wanted to say I've just been in the nick, and I've been watching you for the last few months and I've got to say mate I'm loving your work'.
"And it does take you back, because I wasn't expecting that from that kind of person."
Charlie added: "I was just happy the girls outside the gates don't throw eggs at my car.
"It's nice to have a positive reaction, because not every character can have that. Some characters are deemed evil and they do get abuse."
