Valerie Holden arrived in Hollyoaks in 2007 with her children, Danny and Lauren Valentine. She turned up at The Valentine house where Danny and Lauren's father, Leo Valentine was living with his son, Calvin and daughter, Sasha

Danny and Lauren were Leo's children and Valerie demanded Leo look after them while she sorted out problems she had with housing

She returned in January 2008 and moved in to the Valentines residence, she caused the tongues wagging in the village for being a "wild one" taking Sasha clubbing and getting into a fight with Katy Fox resulting in a night in the cells, she fueded with Myra and the McQueen girls over a bingo game and the prize money and some time later planned Carmel's wedding to step-son, Calvin. In a surprise twist Val and Calvin kiss, Val is guilt ridden and she leaves for Spain. Son, Danny later leaves Chester to find Val

Lauren collapses after falling down the stairs at The Loft and is rushed to hospital, her family is told she has a life threatening blood clot, Val returns to be by Lauren's side and tells her she is taking her back to Spain. After some deliberation Lauren decides to join Val in Spain and all seems finalised, Lauren then realises her dad, Leo will miss her if she goes so she tells Val she is staying in the Village, at this time Leo gets a job in London. In the end Val, Lauren, Sasha and Spencer Grey tell Leo they are going to come to London with him and after a farewell party with close friends at The Loft(a lame exit in my opinion for a good family-Marquess just wanted rid of them) Val and the Valentines bid farewell to to Hollyoaks

The Valentines were axed by Paul "The Axeman" Marquess along with about 10 other characters, upon his reign beginning in 2010, including popular family The Ashworths. To axe the Valentines and Ashworths to bring in The awful Sharpe family and the dreary O Connor family angered many fans.

What did you think of Val's character? And what did you think of the Valentines axing and exit?

Always remember the actress more for being in Emmerdale but I think Val was quite a good character to play and liked how she got her man back from Myra. She was never one to shy away from a good battle and Myra and Frankie gave as good as her. She played quite the cool mother figure allowing Sasha to go partying with her and letting her do as she liked. Was sad when she kissed Calvin and Leo was about to propose and she ran off to Spain. Did we actually see Val leaving with them I can only recall Leo the kids and Spencer at the loft party? In a way I quite liked the Valentines exit because it was rare to see just a normal exit without a death/fire/explosion it was low key and a nice change.

Her last appearance is credited as the same dates of Leo, Sasha, Spencer and Lauren

I thought their exit was terrible, it really is as though Marquess couldn't wait to get rid of them....and Leo, Val and Sasha were great characters

I believe Leo did actually propose to her. Well not really a proposal it was really stupid and typical of him. I think Val just walked off lol.

Although they were good characters I don't think they are missed looking at things now. When Warren was about it would have been good to have seen Sasha and Spencer visit but now he is out of the picture again I don't miss any of them.

I think Val and Leo had potential as well as the kids of being a strong family unit

look at the crappy male adults we have now, Dirk? He is just another version of Leo, Leo was funny cool and played by a great actor(Brian Bovell) as was Val(appearing in Mad Dogs series 3) Samantha Giles excelled as Bernice in Emmerdale and showed her versatility by playing such a juxtapositon to Bernice in the wid, carefree, fun loving Val.....plus she was very fit

Leo was idol but knew it and played to it. Dirk seems a bit more willing I think but like Leo over him just because he hasn't done much. I think the Valentine boys Danny and Sonny were not that likeable and neither was Lauren.

Danny, Sonny and Lauren were awful...Sasha was ok and Spencer grew on me

Val, Leo, Sasha and Spencer and maybe a long lost son/daughter of Leo could of turned up

Or an adopted son/daugter of Val

The more I think about the family as a whole I think I liked Leo and Val more than the teens really Calvin was good at the start but went bad cop and sucked.

Yea they totally ruined Calvin's character, Val(and Leo) were very likeable adults and they would(and Were) be great comedy characters
