I think Hollyoaks has been at a low point for quite a while. I do believe it can be good again but they need to get back to basics. I think it depends on the 20 who get axed whether the show can survive or not. Right now I feel it can go either way.
We don't want people killed each week.
We don't want loads of killers on the show either.
I liked it when it had good honest characters and interesting storylines that wasn't overly dramatised. I think they need to axe the unlikeable characters.
I feel Hannah and co need to bring back student halls, bring back a restaurant and move the awful Mcqueens out of a prime position in the village. Give The Loft an Su Bar type vibe and show some comedy scenes there for once and not just drink/drugs/shady dealings. The hospital set is overused. The gym is pointless.
I am expecting them to set things up in the fast forward a year as:
Sixth Formers - Leah, Vicky, Dillon, Freya and a couple of new people
School - Lucas, Frankie, JJ, DeeDee, Rose, Ant, Oscar, Kathleen Angel
Andre would fit better in the sixth form unit but I think they said he is 2 years younger than Vicky didn't they?
I think pregnancy storylines bring down characters also so they need to think before making anyone else pregnant.
I would also be thinking about Hollyoak's 30th birthday now including storylines and what people they want back...as the 30th birthday could be the end of the show IF they get the axe list wrong.

I think the axe is closer than it has been ever... I don't think it is going anywhere just yet but all these changes aren't good, despite being presented as such

I think people will still watch the show online but they are not the hardcore fans who love the show they watch for a certain couple or character.
